MAHALO FOR YOUR DONATION!
The Arc of Hilo is a Guidestar Gold recognized 501c (3) nonprofit with a mission since 1954 to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities. We provide a Day Program for adults, Community Inclusion activities, Supported Employment, and a Youth in Transition Career Exploration Program (CEP) for high school students with special needs. We are the largest employer of adults with disabilities in east Hawai’i County.
WE COULD NOT DO THIS WITHOUT YOU. Your support helps prevent isolation for seniors with disabilities; hopelessness for youth with special needs in transition from high school; and joblessness for adults with disabilities who may fall into homelessness and drug use. Your donations prove that you believe every individual has hiki palena 'ole! (Unlimited Potential!)
Online donations are simple and efficient!

King Kamehameha’s Awesome Athletes Inclusive Canoe Race King Kamehameha’s Awesome Athletes Inclusive Canoe Race will be held Sunday, June 12th on Hilo Bayfront from 8am to Noon. As a first of its kind here in Hawai’i, our wa’a races will encourage youth and adults with disabilities across Hawai’i to participate in a culturally and historically important activity. We are need of many items that the Hawai’i Tourism Authority grant cannot cover, so we are reaching out to you for support, such as purchase of race day t-shirts, medals, and safety equipment, such as adaptive equipment for the canoes to ensure stability for a person with a physical disability. We appreciate your support of our new, accessible canoe race here on Hawai’i Island |

Greenhouse Restoration Project We are developing 6,000 square feet of greenhouse space to hydroponically grow mixed greens for local restaurants, hotels, and markets. The enterprise will train and employ youth and adults with disabilities who will learn to manage all phases from production to distribution and sales. Phase 2 will include specialized crops such as coffee, vanilla, and cacao along with the creation of an agri-tourism plan. |

Career Exploration Program Approximately one in 10 students in Hawai’i has a special need. The Arc of Hilo has launched a Career Exploration Program to help these students successfully transition from high school into meaningful employment. The Arc of Hilo is helping students “discover” their talents and develop job skills, and when we find a good fit, help them land jobs! This program is partially funded through Matson Giving and community donations, but we need another $15,000 to hire a full-time onsite coordinator, job developer, and job coaches to serve students. |

Adult Day Health Our Adult Day Health program serves elderly and medically fragile participants who cannot (or choose not to) work, including community inclusion activities, both on and off campus. Our current building was constructed 50 years ago and badly needs renovation of participant bathrooms to provide ADA accessibility. This will include a changing table and lift system for wheelchair-bound attendees. The cost to renovate our bathrooms is $94,000. Our goal is to raise enough money to complete this work in 2022 so that we can open our doors to individuals who need greater access to our program. |
